Cameron calls for ISP-level parental censorship tools

Devil

Oh Mr Peanut why haven't you got a clue

"To provide that option, Bailey is calling on the internet industry to offer either a network-level filtering system, such as the one TalkTalk just introduced, or else via "pre-installed software on a new laptop".

In case Mr Bailey hasn't sussed it yet and as far as I know ISP's don't provide laptops or the software that they contain so why his report is suggesting they should, highlights just how out of touch this report is. He has also said he knows its easy for kids to get around filtering so why you insisting on pushing it then, UKCCIS/Government.

The cynical side of me makes me wonder if there is a done deal going on behind westminster towers and UKCCIS and their ilk to push through no matter what, these idiotic and foolish proposals.

Even Talk Talk say you can get around their free network level filtering software so why are they being used as the example of good practice.

Disgraceful - and I know who will NOT be getting my vote come the Revolution.

Re MIke Smith

If you really wanted to get a true 8mb you'd be paying your ISP £60 a month for it assuming BT could provide it on their archaic copper backbone (Incidentally they can't).

You are not alone in your views and sadly typical of a large proportion of UK consumers in so much as you don't understand the technology, when it's clearly pointed out you choose to ignore it, want all for nothing and then moan about it when it doesn't happen.

If I was in a position to run my own ISP I'd do it properly and ban users like you from the start. That way all my customers would get the best experience with no hidden agenda's.

It's not all the consumers fault though because the bigger providers and some smaller ones have consistently hidden the real truth or manipulated it into a way that drags you in (Gullibility works well for these isp's) you take the bait, believe the claims and then suffer for 12 - 18 months in a contract that should wake you up to the fact that the tenner a month eat all you can ISP service was nothing like and actualy in real terms probably actually cost you around £40 a month.

Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?

Management x DSGi = Fookwits

The only people in this organisation you should blame for its dismal failure is their middle, senior and executive management team.

My brother worked for them for 21 years, was awesome at selling, had excellent knowledge of products beyond what it said on the label and was fairly IT literate.

He could turn a poor performing store round in minutes.

They shat on him as they did anyone with a modicum of sense and they deserve everything they get. And for the minutes, don't ever apply for a job in my management team because I'll merely put you three days of assessments only to tell you at the end you failed because you’re a tosser!

This is one company I would definitly have no issues going offshore - the further away the better!
