Occupy Google: Protesters attack ad giant as I/O gets underway

Alan Denman

iPhones left at home?

Well we are indeed left to wonder about that low 'occupancy' rate of 1.

Boris: Look on 'London's digital tentacles', ye mighty, and despair!

Alan Denman

'Canned' is the word

Yes, I really do wonder how many days a week Boris actually gets out of bed. Did he write that line, maybe so looking rushed in being so bad.

Talking of laziness, he did look less unkempt the other day, so he does rise pre-lunchtime on occasion.

Apple: REIGN OF FIRE coming to Europe courtesy of old iPhone chargers

Alan Denman

'Old', are you are having a laugh, he's having a laugh.

September 2012 is less than 2 years ago,

If they trusted them at all, would they have then given a proper 2 year warranty like quality competitors?

Intel pleads for €1bn EU fine to be overturned, is denied

Alan Denman

The sorry tale of protctionism..

extends to keeping out Linux and x86 alternatives.

Remember, Microsoft once supported Mips in Windows NT.

Obviously that was protectionism too. I bet x86 manufacturers Intel mainly had a big stick out on that one.

And even now ARM, the mips like chip designer is getting protectionist strategies shoved down their throats. The smaller partners are certainly being encouraged to move to Intel.

Google: Why should we pay tax when we make 'intangibles'?

Alan Denman

Out of tune in the gloom.

Yes, Google are as bad as Cupertino drinking to our wealth misfortune, Starbucks like.

Tax them and penalise them double!

New Apple iOS to help fanbois thwart Wi-Fi network spies

Alan Denman

it is all about the Spam

Reading it I can really see why.

Rather than a random number, these numbers pre-determine iDevices.

Of course a pre-determinied number in future wll be for that increasing iAd iSpam.

I'd suggest you turn off bluetooth and Wifi while you can.

Likely any on/off user control you currently have is just short term. Greed matters with Apple.

Has Google gone too far? Indie labels say it's crunch time for The New Economy

Alan Denman

"Indie music labels say today's tech giants are behaving more badly than the old record industry "

I heard that the big labels rip off their artists and if the artists don't go with the big labels, Apple the chooses to rip them off even more !

So with a catch 22, is someone going to publish what these cartel giants pay?

China puts Windows 8 on TV, screams: 'SECURITY, GET IT OUT OF HERE!'

Alan Denman

were Apple compliant then?

It makes you think.

Alan Denman

Only the garbage available.

It has always been 'garbage in garbage out' with Windows.

But, by hook or by crook, it was all we had.

Surely nothing has really changed with Windows.

'Inaccurate' media misleads public on European Court's Google ruling

Alan Denman

'Inaccurate' Google-friendly media"

Has the world has suddenly gone bonkers?

It is worth framing that one.

Google's Nexus devices get stealth Android update

Have you sold out Register ?

I do ask in that your real attacks and good satire have become few and far between

Apple: We'll tailor Swift to be a fast new programming language

Alan Denman

Nightmare on a fruity Elm Street.

It was already in the 10 Apple commandments.

Though shalt not write code for any other platform. This will make it more and more mandatory to have to write 2 very unique sets of code down the line.

The enemy of my enemy is my, well, temporary ally: Apple and Microsoft in pact against Google

Alan Denman

Nothing has changed whatsoever.

it has always been about the Microsoft Apple cartel.

Those phoney wars will continue as it serves this purpose.

And DuckDuckGo is pretty much all of Bing. The complete lack on principals in this war means few tell you that.

Intel gives biz typoslabs their very own 14nm Core-M silicon

Alan Denman
Happy

"instead a premium product for high end devices"

Methinks you could go even more premium and use ARM.

Too late to do it now ARM, but you should have been charging more money more than Intel for your premium low energy chips!

Apple's steamy OS XXX picture leak riddle: Blurry snaps deleted

Alan Denman

Numbers are king

The dumbed down lot outnumber the X factor dozens to one so obviously IOSification is where it is at.

Snowden never blew a whistle, US spy boss claims

Alan Denman

he is low level..

Obviously a low level analyst does low level code and as such is a high level operator to me and you.

You gotta laugh cos they are both right in that description, just happens that the US one is propaganda marketing.

A budget phablet, what a curious thing: Reg puts claws to the Lumia 1320

Alan Denman

Cleaners are hip !

The good Shepard tending his flock is about to bring it to the market for the unthinking masses.

We are in a reverse word where the cleaners are now the trend setters.

It's Google's no-wheel car. OMG... there aren't any BRAKES

Alan Denman

Not cars but the cap fits for public transport

I can see it now. 7.30am your car arrives from its pod, picks you up and drives you to work collecting maybe one other person doing that same exact route.

At 9.30 the cars forms a centipede like train of to head off to central points, ready for mass action.

A car at your hose/work place within 2 minutes of a whistle? The blocker in all of this is, even now, is the switch from oil to electricity. The grid system is simply not ready.

Hey, we'll do 4G for £15, says O2 (just mind how you go on the 1GB limit)

Alan Denman

A load of balls

I'd suffer 2G Edge with 512MB, 3G up to 20GB and 4G for unlimited.

Who do they think people are, suckers?

Google clamps down on rogue Chrome plugins and extensions

Alan Denman

Best to avoid Chrome really !

The bigger the corporation the more they want to monopolise you?

The OS is open so use it to your advantage, not Google's advantage.

Otherwise they will be a pseudo 100% monopoly of control.

Intel marries Chinese chippery firm to SoC it to low-end tablet market

Alan Denman

Loads of dosh, loads of dosh.

Rockchip can't afford to turn them down can they ?

Now, if they can tie them all into dropping or maybe just pricing up ARM, well that would be one hell of a coup.

You've got Mail! But someone else is reading it in Outlook for Android

Alan Denman

TO have ot not to have that is the question.

To have to to have not.

Remember, you get the chance to have your mail with an SD slot. With non SD phones, 'pay for storage, pay for data' Cloud storage too quickly becomes the solution.

Apple wheels out sueball cannon, again

Alan Denman

Apple's S3 copy is about to launch...

with an S3 like big screen, S4 like '2 apps on screen at once' and S4 like NFC

They need to clear the decks/remove the real Samsung thing for their 'back to 2012' type launch come September.

Intel cutting prices, taking on all comers in fondleslab market grab

Alan Denman

Smart weaning !

As already said, this is what Intel are famous for.

Wean them early to later treat them all mean.

Saying that, they did come very unstuck with that expensive $300 Ultrabook Chipset.

Senate decides patent reform is just too much work, waves white flag

Alan Denman

They ain't patents....

The bigger companies are simply patenting everything that moves, and everything they is not intended to move!

With Corporate evil/greed, do you really expect them to co-operate?

When all is said and done, they are mainly doing a land grab, they ain't inventions as we once knew them.

Apple haggles with ISPs for fast lanes to its own websites – industry guru

Alan Denman

the war against the consumer has now moved sideways.

So, beyond that truce this is the new angle in their all controlling money making scheme.

Cartels r US, says Apple. Likely they were heavily involved in that net neutrality breakup discussion.

With billions available, slowing poorer opposition down could well be lucrative

Microsoft Surface 3 Pro: Flip me over, fondle me up

Alan Denman

Screen too small?

Strange, the 11 to 12 " size is almost proven the preferred 'usable' size.

As sure as that Apple phablet, Apple will almost certainly have theirs arriving once 9" sales go downwards.

SAVE NET NEUTRALITY, urges Steve Wozniak in open letter to bigwigs

Alan Denman

This new regime will be wonderful for the likes of A T & T

Just think

that 2GB contract you pay for will impact so much on their ability to stream the $20 a month TV stream they supply you will be down to dial up speeds once again.

Result, A T & T double the cost of the 2GB to reduce congestion.

A win win for both A T & T and their streaming partner.

Apple, Google: WE SURRENDER ... to each other in patent war truce

Bad news? A secret agreement to cripple Android

I would not bet against it.

Patch Tuesday: Adobe outdoes Microsoft, swats 18 bugs in latest update

Alan Denman

spaghetti code..

but unlike Birmingham the people at Adobe or Microsoft keep redoing dead end code.

Most is junk code with patches on patches on patches.

Apple: We'll tell users when the Feds come looking for their data

Alan Denman

Apple's are holier than though ...

so there is nothing to see here.

Of course if there are more holes in the IOS than in Nora Batty's tights then nothing needs ever be said.

Apple pulls iPhone 4 from sale in India after just four months

Alan Denman

..Apple recycling ? ...

Maybe they were refurbished but too few are nowvisitng those 'give me a freebie' Apple recycling points.

I'm reserving judgement on IOS 7 running very very badly on the iPhone 4.

Go ahead and un-install .Net, but you'll CRIPPLE Windows Server 2012

Alan Denman

they are saying..

Servers should be light and nimble, not fast fitted together via high level code running on a bloated framework.

Weird. 'Server bloat comes as standard' seems to be what they are saying.

AMD adds ARM security core to new, low-cost x86 mobile processors

Alan Denman

A lock in?

I half imagine the new security will be used to keep Linux out.

Windows problem was that when the OS became obsolete the hardware worked with Linux.

That, by the looks of it is more and more becoming a thing of the past now.

Apple patents Wi-Fi access point location lookup

Alan Denman

remember that lifetime user location on the iPhone?

well it seems that this pretty much makes us of it, so it as most of us well know, it was likely not a NSA privacy error.

Can you believe it, they just patented a location database!

Are you having a laugh?

Tim Cook: Apple's 'closer than it's ever been' to releasing new product range

Alan Denman

re - Closer

Heck Tim, I just woke up this morning and you are closer than you have ever been yet again!

And tomorrow is even closer.

I guess he is saying 'Please please wait until September otherwise we will never get you will be lost forever in the Android gobbling machine.'

That is exactly how all those 'imminent iThingy' rumours work every easter.

Look behind you, 'declining' sub-$5bn iPod. The iWatch has come... to EAT YOU

Alan Denman

a 5 hour watch?

then they will have to call it the Eclipse Watch.

Alan Denman

Bluetooth headphones Ut Uh

So how long would a tiny watch battery last for lots of BT data at a distance as long as your arm?

And I already thought the watch problem was already a battery life one.

The iPod is dead and I am Watching the excuses..

Apple patent pokes at holographic iPhone screen

Alan Denman

Anti innovation again,

So all those current interactive 3D games belong to Apple as soon as they move to more fuller 3D.

DO you really think this is an invention when it simply bans progress.

I can see what they are getting at, they will expensively rent out the right to write software on their platform.

Elsewhere game development has to stop !

Progress?

RIP net neutrality? FCC mulls FAST LANES for info superhighway

Alan Denman

Gotcha !

Looks a death for many, more so for the small players too and god help Android.

Apple might already have a deal with A T & T for its special blend of apps.

As to the internet, it ain't for us. That suits APple and possibly Microsoft.

Gotcha Facebook and Google, boy are you gonna pay !

SAVE THE EARTH... give all your iThings back to us, begs Apple

Alan Denman

Remember how they were going EPEAT free.......

until, no doubt, EPEAT worked out the loss of income and capitalised.

I don't find all that glue they use to keep users and 3rd party repair companies out, making laptops and tablets very disposable green at all.

Greed is all I see, I ain't green. And we know full well solar power provides income.

It is financial sense driving them as is this dodgy publicity drive.

WiLAN files appeal in Apple WiFi case

Alan Denman

"The Court is unable to find that the jury’s finding"

There are Juries and Apple juries.

With regards to a Jury, science does not come into it, perception wins out.
