"A pair of 3D ski glasses eclipsed Windows 10 at Microsoft’s next-generation event..."
So it IS just smoke an mirrors.
I can't say that I wont end up with some poor piece of unsuspecting hardware with Windows 10 installed on it, but I can say I will actively refuse it for as long as I can. I didn't buy into the shite that Windows 8.x is and only recently have been using W7 (mostly at work).
I hope that this OS is as big a flop as Vista/W8 was/is. Microsoft really just needs to give up and make a GUI for Linux. And give it away to the general public.
"Lack of knowledge isn't the holdback with Linux, in my case, it was the behavior of the support."
Can you imagine the brow beating you would get from a M$ support person if you weren't paying for it?
I love how someone can take the experience of one or two bad apples and blame the whole bushel. Just tell them that their mom will kick them out of the basement if they don't behave.
""No, be smart, disclose it on a Friday night, so a lot of systems that aren't managed 24x7 risk to be left unpatched for two days"
What two days do you speak of? Saturday and Sunday? You get those off? Oh, you must be one of those 8 - 5, M - F admins that I hear about occasionally.
"Concerned users should disable JavaScript and play options for browser objects..."
I have No Script, AdBlock Plus an Ghostery in Firefox and just about every web page I go to either bitches about the ABP or the Java needs to be enabled. Can't go anywere on the web anymore without running into the Java crutch.
The thing that tickles me shitless is that they still call people that break into systems for nefarious purposes 'hackers' when the term they need to use is 'cracker'. Once they use the H word, I have to move on to the next thing because I know that the rest is just hot air.
"...it took over a decade to only move 80%..."
Ah, the old tired adage, or should I say FUD, used by all the MS shill/Fanbois/Wintards.
Of course it took time you moron. They first had to consolidate all their disparate IT camps that were using a Wintel environment and then move forward with a migration. Gov is about as maneuverable as an aircraft carrier. It takes time to turn.
As for the real world, most of it is locked into Microsofts crack, er, licensing.
