Re:Chuckie Egg in the App Store?
Not that I have found yet, but there needs to be!

"Hopefully, HP will have the sense to face the projector away from the user, otherwise accessing the machine during a movie projection will be difficult."
Facing away would mean that it would be awkward to face the audience when doing a presentation.. okay for film watching except the smaller screen distracting from the projection (unless screen can be turned off)
but make it swivel, add in the option to flip the image up the over way and paired with a bluetooth clicker then you could stand/sit where ever you wanted whist showing your powerpoint presentation
Films, youtube and powerpiont are likely to be the most used applications of this tech
.. And it's clone of Donkey Kong is indeed feindish, compared to the arcade version it seems.
Another fav played on the Dragon was Chuckie Egg, I hunted out the windows binary of the BBC version of that again recently to play again.
Most of my 'type from magazine BASIC' games would have been on the Acorn Electron and then we would often have to wait for the corrections printed in the next months issue (port to other versions of BASIC? I could just about fix the odd ' Missing " ' type error and that was about it at that age / level of understanding).
Don't think I ever played The Valley though...
..but clicking on 'be the first to comment' when you had the page open for a while used to take you to a page as if you were the first to comment on a story when in fact if you refreshed before clicking to comment you see that some have indeed been submitted - I considered that broken so it does work better now.
However Now that we have the 'Report' button for posts is there really a need for a delay in publishing the comments? i.e. Now it's called a forum could it not behave like a forum?
The bonus to being reactionary as oppossed to prevetative with inappropriate posts is that it would surely give the Ms Bee more time for her excellent and witty articles and comment replies..
Whenever I rang that person I thought I had been put straight through to there 'funky' answerphone message and would hang up.
This kept happening until one day they accused me of giving them 'Pikey ring backs' (ring once/twice, hang up and wait for return call - very popular with low credit PAYG users). Of course I responded with 'No I don't, you keep sending me to voice mail'.. they then explained the service but I would not have known that it was called 'Ringback tones'.
Very poor naming, implies that it relates to another telephoney type service as already mentioned by someone else..
I am very surpised that you are the only person to coment about that, it's what I've had in the back of my mind for a while now..
And if they really want to debunk the (every 400,000 years) Magnetic reversal talk then surely they should mention when the last one actually happened?
..now I just gotta think about how to link my Wi Fi Router in the hall to my Humax box under the TV in the lounge. Cheaply, neatly and without having to lift carpets/floor boards or needing to repaint walls walls etc..
@ Rob Farnell: I read some where here on The Reg in October that an update for the Foxsat HD is due this month..
I agree about the Wii iPlayer needing fixing but I am still waiting for an iPlayer App for my iPod Touch*
*I may have commented as such before now in another article.
I'm already decidedly unhappy about having to Pay BT £12 a month for a landline I do not really need or use just so I can have broadband connected.
I know for a FACT that they can enable use of broadband without enabling phone calls on the line but they just will not allow it because they can get away with charging for effectively nothing!
It is not the same in all countries and I understand (but do not know for fact) that Virgin cable customers can have broadband without a phone service if they wish but I do not live in an area with cable.
I don't think I've ever used the phase before (although have often agreed with others when used) but this is a perfect example of 'Rip off Britain'!!!
Not to mention that fibre capable of 100Mbits/s is being installed to the homes (not just the street cabinets) by FibreCity (albeit in just a couple of 'Trial Cities' ATM) I would far rather any revenue went to them to expand further and wider!
is this the El Reg 'word of the month' or something?
Read this word several times on here in the last week even the commentors have started using it - and I wasn't counting the one that was complaining about it's use twice in one article!
and @ K - Plan on making many calls underwater? ;-)
...An STB that can 'translate' any type of 3D TV signal for display on a non '3D TV' would be more useful?
If consumers want 3D TV, and Sky are likely to be the first to market with a channel then you can faily safely bet that which ever method they choose is likely to become the standard.. this would give a box that can display any 3D signal 'only' on any 3D TV a very limited market of wealthy early adopters that chose the wrong one.
And if they can afford to be an early adopter of 3D TV are they going to buy an STB to fix it or just buy a new 3D TV that works..
I had a P800i the day it came out in the UK, and have a P990i - Great phones, but I am back on the P800 because the P990i has died and SE have not updated the range :-(
I do find it funny that it's several years later and only since the iPhone came out that the other manufactures have jumped on the 'touch screen' band wagon.
In the 'basic phone' arena, my fave was the Sony J5 - excellent form factor and (iirc) one of the first with polyphonic ring tones - theres baisc and theres basic, I doubt many folks would really want to go back to pre-mp3 playing let alone pre-polyphonic!
SE please do an update to the P series and update the J5 (OLED, very similar form factor, lose the arial (like those Russian J5 pics around at the time) ) I'd probably get both!
As it is I 'want' an iPhone for the same reasons as mentioned by Andy Watt but I will not get one on O2! (roll on the iPhonei lol!!)
I remember often visiting J5 and P800 fansites back in the day but no other phone has inspired me to do so!
That is sensible start, but when will they be able to check that you are conscious? or if you have a gun to your head / knife to your neck?
I think I'd still rather risk losing card than risk a determined crim requiring me or part of me to carry out the crime.
Not that I have any infomation that would be would be worth committing those sorts of crimes over!
No but they go back to the risk of a really deternimed criminal cutting your hand off, maybe killing you first to make it easier..
And whilst that may sound quite extreme and like something you've only seen/heard of in the movies, UK police are still investigating a murder where bits of the same body have been found in several different counties...
At the top:-
The Aspire One 571 - not to be confused with the recenltly launched Aspire One 751
At the bottom:-
There's no word on when the 751 might ship - or where. Certainly, Vmedia has been thus far aimed solely at the Indian market, and Acer may want to limit the 751 to customers there.
lol
And in at least one case a new camera...
There is no species of bird that is silver and amoust perfectly round no matter the distance or how crap the camera is.
There is no outline around the nine objects that implies a flag or carrier bag just some variation in cloud colour on one side causing your minds to create one. As a flag it would be pretty crap as nobody recognises it.
Formation planes/helicopters would have to be above the pictured cloud height to look that small.
Only two reasonable explainations left:-
1 Radio Controlled UFO formation Flying team
2 Small fleet of real (yet tiny) UFOs.
as though the government and its agencies have never lied to or misled the general public in any way or covered up the truth about things countless times in history...!?!
Are you all really pig-headed enough to think that in this almost infinate universe - where every star you can see (and the trillians & trillians you can't) is a 'Sun' with potentially with it's own system of planets like our own - that we are on the only planet that has any life on it?
Anyone would think the 'God made the earth in seven days and that's final' brigade had signed up to el reg..
