Re: It's funny, isn't it?
Maybe we have been fed so much nonsense about gods, and told so many fairy tails, for so long, that we are all now somehow dependent upon a degree of superstition in our lives?

Dark Matter must be the most useful form of matter ever discovered!
You can't detect it, measure it, or explain what in hell it might actually be.
Yet every time anything unexplainable is detected anywhere in the universe, then it is the good old dark matter causing the observed effect.
Dark Matter, the answer to everything that can't be explain, a sort of scientific universal God.
"But the findings do mean that there's probably water on celestial bodies across the solar system."
As our sun is an fairly average star, are we now saying, that there's probably water on all the planets we are now discovering around other stars?
If so what's the new probability for life on any of those planets?
"Would it not be much easier, cheaper and quicker simply to build a small proportion of the nuclear power generators that would be needed here on Earth."
Yes, yes, yes, but totally impossible. You must try to understand, nuclear power is not green, however many problems it might help us to solve.
I used to go up to town regularly by train, back in the 60s and 70s just to shop in Tottenham Court Road.
It was the most marvellous geeks paradise, with shops full of new and second hand electronic equipment of every sort.
Ha, those were the day but sadly, all good things must come to an end.
"Is that why OAP's are constantly scammed by confidence tricksters and cowboy builders?"
NO, some of the people who have lived long enough to be OAPs. haven't ever been out of their own street, never mind around the block once or twice. People born pre. WW2. do have a problem, I know, one lives with us!
(and the need for dark matter goes away.)
About bloody time too, the sooner we get rid of this magical dark matter, that can't be detected what soever, the better.
Except to balance our accepted theory of the universe, nothing else in astronomy or sub atomic theory, supports it's existence. Either the missing mass is out there in good old fashioned mass somewhere, or our theory of the universe is wrong!
A "T" shaped truss is spot on! Just use the 3 ends as suspension points, triangles are more stable anyway, then decide which way up to mount the truss.
To reduce spin, a tail something like that of a kite's would help. Due to the ascent their is bound to be air flowing downwards with some horizontal vector to it.
Well he/she may be dumb, but is still basically right.
M$ do leave a lot of holes in there OS by design, it is called, "built in obsolescence."
Otherwise who in hell would fork out for Win7 or Win8 that offer little that is new for the average office workstation, when XP. is quit sufficient for the job. Just stop the updates, and M$ has more money in the bank.
"Between 20 and 30 pieces of the remains of the probe with a total weight of less than 200kg could hit the Earth's surface,"
So clearly nothing to worry about, even if those pieces are red hot and traveling at about 6 to 7 Km per second.
Anyway they always land in the sea, don't they?
Re. "The Bible story of the guiding star which guided the Three Kings in to deliver festive presents to the baby Jesus."
The Three Kings or Wise Men, were in fact most probably Astrologers, and most certainly not Astronomers, as astronomy as such didn't exist till more than a thousand years after the event.
So, no guiding star, just the correct alignment of the planets to predict the birth of a very special royal person in Palestine.
But never mind I like Christmas time, and it's a very nice story!
"Latham and his fellow boffins think that the flat systems exist because they have no massive gas-giant worlds like our own Jupiter, which could affect other planets' orbits with their strong gravity."
OR SIMPLY!
Because the stars have so many bloody planets going around them!
KISS
Maybe if Sony hadn't pissed of so many of its clients world wide, by deciding that just because they bought a Play Station that didn't mean they actually now own it. Perhaps Sony wouldn't be in quite so much shit as it is today!
Modifying equipment you own, anyway you may chose, is not in itself illegal. While modifying other peoples computer software without telling them, when they install a Sony DVD player is!!
I also come from a radio background, mainly working on telemetry, including a lot of antenna design. While I have no doubt you can get this to work in a lab, as for the real world forget it!!
As soon as your your own transmission is reflected by any nearby object, the reflected signal will swamp the null point you are using to receive in, Fail!!!
