British prime minister slams Facebook and pals for votes

Bob Hoskins

RE: British prime minister slams Facebook and pals for votes

"Terrorists are generally locals who have become very disaffected with the way their lives are not panning out as they would like. The cause they espouse is almost irrelevant. They will be open to any political ideology that appears to promise to give them meaning and control."

Who just happen to be Muslim? Plenty of unhappy people in Britain but they don't go around killing kids.

Slightly off topic

What circumstances would the police reasonably accept if I gave a TV Licensing guy on my doorstep a damn good thrashing? Just wondering for no reason at all.

Linux sucks

The problem with Linux is that it isn't very good. Windows is much better and actually works. It doesn't matter how many distros you put out, at its core it's a load of old balls not worth bothering. I'd rather run RISC OS on my desktop than Linux.

If you've ever actually read this piece of crap, it tells you more about what Verizon (and indeed the Dutch police) don't know than what they do know.

Finally a reason not to bother with IPv6: Uh, security concerns...?

Re: I always use SSH tunnels....

You can tunnel SSH over pretty much anything. If DNS queries resolve to FQDNs, you can tunnel over A records.

Oracle refuses to let Java copyright battle die – another appeal filed in war against Google

Bob Hoskins

Isn't Java free anyway?

Someone explain this to me. How is Oracle able to sue Google for using Java more than say suing a bank that uses Java to power the back end on its retail web site?

Apologies for my ignorance in advance.

Zuck

Given that most people seem to have a generally unfavorable opinion of the Zuck (can't think why) - how is it that in a nation with so many guns, he can just walk down the street without fear of imminent assassination?

I'm not suggesting that any El Reg readers should do such a thing, merely that I'd be terrified in his position.

You don't need TXT records to graft C2 to DNS. Just use a fake DNS server as authoritative for the domain and use A records.

Let the 5% of French people who can actually read go and try to find what they want in one of those quaint little corner stores. Maybe they can pick up a baguette on the way. Or order from Amazon Germany.
