But the Biggest one is DATA all it needs is for you NET connection to go down or for you to get into a dispute with your provider and you are cut off from business critical data , that is plain insanity.
The cloud is OK for when you need additional resouces to add to your own service , such as more webservers to provide addtional bandwidth , if you are an online retailer , during the holiday shopping period, but you NEVER EVER allow your critial data to be controlled by someone else!

Yes if you lose 6 planes out on 60 in one single mission , then yes you fufill the terms of decimated, if however you lose 6 planes out of 60 out of 200+ missions NOT THE SAME THING!!

As for the Tornado fleet being decimated. well if you call six aircraft lost to various reasons being decimated, then you are a cretin. They were attacking airfields , very heavly defended targets, which no other airscraft apart from the F-117's could attempt it was not until later in the war that everyone realised the iraqis had no medium level SAM defence. Just becuase it was like that once does mean it will always be. Or do you think that you could waltz into saw Russian airspace at medium level and live!
The biggest problem for the british defence budget is allowing BAE and THALES etc ot massively overcharge and rip this country off!

I blame GCSE computers studies. When I started learning it for O-level,they taught you about computer chips and the various parts and what they did, then they changes it for GCSE which meant , basically word processing and teaching to the lowest common denominator.
Computers studies in the west is now aimed at the mouth breathers rather than anyone with a modicum of intelligence, seriously going to hell in a hand cart!

Carriers are not invurable. I can't understand why we dont just build 3 40,000 convetional carriers in say the mid way class of size, that can take 4 squadrons of fighters. Why exactly are we trying to build the absolute best, we just need a ship good enough to transport those planes to the correct area.
Jesus the old Ark Royal of the 70's could have been rebuilt with updated equipment and would probably cheaper and better.

The reason we don't is because quite simple, knowing that the government of a country could be decided by electronic votes, would present a huge target for both a corporation or more likely a foreign government to find a way to defeat its security and affect the results.
Any current encryption system can be defeated if sufficient resources are thrown at it. The Banks lose millions every year, but hush it up rather than publish what happened, to protect confidence in their institutions, and their encryption is pretty much the best going commercially.
India has a billions people and manages to hold elections using paper, it has nothing to do with using the NET or not, they simple failed to anticipate how many people wanted to vote and instead of being sensible and allowing the stations to stay open, they cut people off.
