EE network whacked by 'PDP authentication failure' blunder

works for me

for a change my EE is working on 4G without question. first time for everything I suppose...

EE is god awful, and I regret taking half of our business contracts over to them, was tempted by the 4G which is in our area, VODA's roll out plan gives us 4G in 2017 - but whilst the 4G is great for brief periods the piss poor connectivity the rest of the time on all services is just so bad.

FAIL

well personally

i hate dropbox, but no matter how often i advise people of its complete inadequacies in every way i am the one met with derision...

what kind of professional paid for service would allow me to send me a file share link to a client for them only to get a message that their dropbox was full and they could not download the link?

or a group shared folder that somebody has put GB's worth of data in that dropbox tries to sync over the first internet connection it finds, filling up all available space on the already full local machine?

or a client uploading video content to share with others but dropbox displaying the first 10 minutes of video, but not giving a link to download it, thus making the client believe that the rest of the video has been lost...

these are 3 simple scenarios that i have had forced upon me in the last month, the fewer people who use it and pay for the poor service the better....

advertorial

not really sure this is a stunning piece of investigative journalism more just a paid advert for 3CX

no mention on how easy earlier versions of 3cx were to hack and run up huge bills acting as an open sip gateway (this happened to me, and was only caught out by hitting my SIP trunk providers credit limit)

however the software is pretty robust, we have been using it for 5 or so years, but it is has been pretty rubbish at coping with network binding and changes to our external ip's (thank you telefonica)

I know "where is the IT angle questions are frowned upon" however this sticky sweet story followed by that of grumpy joes flooring yesterday, I can't wait until next week's serialisation of the story of the invention of the coloured biro, which is shaping up to be a fascinating film.

This is a brilliant story, and long may you keep writing similar pieces, if you could prehaps come up with something more involving meerkats and bic biro's then I can smell a pullitzer...

UK's first caller ID-spoofing service shuttered after five days

Spookcall Launch

I must have missed that party... Who was there? Yvette Fielding and the rest of the ghost hunter crew?

Anyway I digress, CLID spoofing is pretty easy, anyone with direct access to a phone switch or even an asterix/SIP based phone system can set their own caller ID number. Hours of fun can be had with prank phonecalls to mobiles as the phone resolves the incorrect number from its internal directory...

But I wouldn't have thought that a service such as this would have generated much revenue anyway...

send him down...

How dumb can you be selling pirated software on ebay?

Things like this really piss me off...

Did he assume that because it was ebay there was no transaction history or paper trail ? I bet he took PayPal too... !!!

If people want to *cough* acquire slightly illegitimate software then there are tried and tested methods for doing so, and buying from ebay isn't one of them. The sort of people who buy this software annoy me too, they should be sought out and fined too.
