Let's go live now to Magic Leap and... Ah, still making millions from made-up tech

duncan campbell

headhacker

I've no real idea how much of their burn is given to bsing themselves, but their target it real enough. If you look at MS's HoloLens and the demos of MagicLeap the difference is obvious and simple: ML is tracking head and/or eye focus, as well as merging some real-time surface/shape recog into their presentation. So there needs to be an eyetracking sensor and a forward looking sensor to recognize the display environment. Verrry snazzy sw needed to merge sensory inputs in rt. Must be a bitch gettin' them to work together. Now if you could put a sqid alongside the temple/optic nerve (NMR) you could _see_ what they are looking at, as well as where, but then you might not need that silly looking lens affair ...

Message from the Priest King

When I was 13 or so, I read the entire series. Within the wierld of Gor, the sex made sense. By the time I was 17 (yes, I re-read books), I couldn't get past the sex: it was just too alien to everything I'd learned about women in the mean time. Spoiled an otherwise good bit of shlock-fi.

I read Dries stuff. To be short, if he programs with the same logic he writes English with he's

got political skills that far outweigh his reasoning. I'd recommend that anyone with technical/intellectual ambitions to steer _far_the_fk_ away.

There was an internet feed into Russia thru Finland before

It was their big Universities that drove Russia's internet:

Internet. It took more than a decade for the Kreml to

re-exert it's traditional POV.

Smudge@mcr and the https comment following have it: there is no

way you can trust MS, or any certificate vendor for that matter.

The fact is this is nothing more than a mechanism for MS to render

the hardware base that Linux and the BSDs rest on obsolete by

design: the UEFI is nothing more than a "Built In Obsolescence"

function. It does not even appear to effectively solve the problem,

and is certainly not as secure as, say a dip switch.

is that we need to respin the entire Drug industry. To do this you introduce quality guarantee as the law's criterion by requiring the seller to guarantee quality

and testing.

So you could sell, without much fear of prosecution, things like cannabis, beer,

or even opium because there's real medical studies, as well as long human

experience with these. That and identifying them is quite easy so adulteration

pointless.

Heroin would rather more difficult, but not impossible, for the seller to warrant.

And such an approach would make experimental lab drugs a serious offense

to sell simply because there's no valid study of the effects of the specific

chemicals involved. If you can't point to good evidence of something's

relative harmlessness, perhaps you should get banged up for flogging it.
