Tor torpedoed! Tesco Bank app won't run with privacy tool installed

HAHAHA. Oh wait, you're serious? I heard hackers and scum use the Internet too, better log off mate.

Tin foil hats at the ready. Not sure where you're getting your information, but I receive an Android security update every 4ish weeks.

Tin foil hat please

And of course their member base is decreasing in size. Oh wait, no it isn't, so I guess they're not going away any time soon. Rather than just walk away, maybe it'd be better to open a dialog with the devs to fix the problem?

What the f**k is the Internet?

Try typing NFC into Google, and prepare to be amazed.

Skype/Facebook integration spawns hijack risk

Dave N

Not for Mac

This is all Skype for Windows. The latest Mac version (v5.2) is no longer usable following a botched redesign, and has never even had a sniff at Facebook integration. I used to care, but I don't use Skype any more.

Amazon cloud still on fritz after 36 hours

...Amazon need to release technical details ASAP, and explain how they're going to prevent this happening again.

Open sourcers urged to adopt dancing poultry license

Not seeing the funny side

This is just what open source needs - to be taken less seriously. I spent the best part of today convincing the enterprise that open source is a good idea, and winning developers around. If they see this, I'll have to start all over again. Seriously.

Microsoft secretly yanks TechNet product keys

Dave N
WTF?

Kicked in the teeth

Why? Anti-piracy? Windows activation is bad enough, but this is ridiculous - we are paying professionals. We PAID for these keys. Why punish us?

My career is founded on Microsoft tech, but that doesn't mean I like it. Every day it gets a little bit harder to be a Microsoft professional.

Punters still puzzled by broadband ads

O2 broadband FTW

"John Petter, managing director of BT’s Consumer Division, said: “Averages are no more relevant to customers than maximum speed...The solution to consumer confusion is explaining clearly what speeds customers can expect on their individual lines when they sign-up."

When I set up O2 broadband in Leeds last year, that's exactly what they did. They noticed I was a long way from the exchange and called me to say my DSL connection would be rubbish - and asked if I still wanted to go ahead with the setup. IMO, all ISPs need to do this.

"Isn't that open source? I thought freetard stuff was hack proof. Oh no thats right - people round here have been pointing out that in fact this is not the case.

So what's the point of open source then?"

wow, you really don't get it. I hope you're middle management, or we're all doomed!

@Barry Shepherd

Not too sure about the paedo bit, but I've seen plenty of perves at Bondi happily snapping away with their telephoto lenses. Not many people expect to be photographed in public, especially in a bikini. Telephoto lenses on beaches - ANYWHERE - are unnecessary. Unless you've got release forms for everyone on the beach...

Windows Vista has been battered, says Wall Street fan

Dave N
Thumb Up

Vista works fine

I'm a developer and I've been using Vista since it was released. Ok, in the very early days there were a few problems with old/crappy drivers, Visual Studio had some incompatibility issues. But once the driver vendors updated their drivers and SP1 came out, it's been fine. I wouldn't go back to XP that's for sure.

Virgin Media and BPI join forces to attack illegal filesharing

Dave N
Dead Vulture

think about it

if you think VM gives a sh*t about 500,000 users - who were downloading illegal torrents, sucking up bandwidth - going to a different ISP then you are sadly mistaken. To a company like VM, that's a dip in the pond, and in the long run, the network will be better off with you.

Bl**dy fasthosts! I've got hundreds of passwords to change now! Off the back of this I've made a little tool which automates creating strong memorable passwords. Some of you might find it useful - if you don't, sorry, I didn't mean to spam.
