"and all this doom and gloom..."
It's called reality.
If a cat leaves a carcass at your back door it's because it thinks you are useless at hunting.
sedition I think.
Another TI99/4a user here. I always heard the reason why it was slow explained as "it's like a city with 16 lanes of traffic but with no place to park". But Parsec, Burgertime and Moon Patrol were excellent games and many an hour was wasted playing Tunnels of Doom.
Here's an idea- give the game away for free and have a once-off in-game purchase of 99c to unlock the full game. No bullshit with coins and the freepers still get to play alongside those who paid.
"they amount to telling people they should become hermits and never interact with anyone if they can't do it face to face."
There's the problem though- Social media does tend to make people hermits in real life. If a family member of mine moved to a new place, I'd like to think that they are interacting with their new community, face-to-face, rather than secluding themselves away and only relying on the internet to connect them to the people they know, long distance. Meanwhile, that person is getting a reputation in their new community...
Nearly the same experience (no champagne though), it wasn't a faulty connector- it was the "tang" missing from the top of the RJ45 which meant it kept slipping out of the socket. 10 seconds with my crimp tool saved large amounts of money.
Always reminds me of my favourite line from The Sound Of Music when Mother Superior asks Maria "What is it? You cunt face."
Duty Free for anyone travelling between the UK and the EU...
The title says it all...
Plus, when management do finally make up their mind regarding their requirements, and you deliver the project, they then start demanding to know where all the features that they never asked for were...
I believe the same thing happened after WWII where there was an agreement to share secrets between the US and the UK, that only went one way as well.
The problem is that the EU might be on the verge of cancelling TTIP and you may find yourself post-Brexit in a situation where the conservatives enact it in the UK...
That's the total reason why I have zero interest in IoT.
I think the version of "double bagging" he is talking about is where you put a brown paper bag on your head, just in case the one on Windows 10 falls off...
...if a third party funded the case then it is considered champerty (and possibly barratry)- is this legal in America?
If You Wanna Get Into That Boy's soul, You gotta pay the Troll Toll
Downvoted by a CEO I guess- One who expects their greasy wad of cash come rain or shine...
A young business woman I saw do a presentation recently asked for feedback from the audience on how they think she could make her company more successful. My advice was "Never appoint an accountant to the company board"
I have some lint I found in my belly button.
I'd be more inclined towards GM crops if such things as "Terminator Genes" didn't exist.
better- Guns don't kill people, americans with guns kill people.
This is the same Cecilia Malmström that publicly stated that she does not get her mandate from the citizens of Europe. So yet another unelected mandarin.
my chickens always love to wander around the garden, they've even dug themselves a favourite spot/dirt bath under one of the fir trees. Yes, they do not like the rain, and a wet chicken produces less eggs. I average 5-6 eggs a week each from my two...
One day a small farmer, looking to sell his eggs, hit on the idea of advertising them as "free range eggs". This struck a cord with consumers and soon they were queueing round the block to buy his eggs.
But this upset his neighbour, Mr Factory Farmed Hens. He was jealous and he went to his paid-for politician and said "The term 'free range' is unregulated. The government need to define it and more importantly define who can use it." And the government granted Mr Factory Farmed Hens a well paid place on their newly setup quango where he quickly set about enacting legislation and licensing which effectively allowed him to call his factory hens and the eggs that they produced "free range". As for the small farmer- the new legislation was so restrictive and the new licensing so expensive, he was banned from ever using the term again.
now there's no loyalty bonus, there's nothing from stopping people from leaving (and letting HR know that's the reason for leaving during the exit interview)
America doesn't have a democracy. At best it has what can be called a "representative democracy". Due to the Electoral College it is possible for one candidate to receive the most votes and still lose which would not be possible in a true democracy.
"Google is pushing a solution called Brillo that is based on android and open source."
So I've I equipped my gaff with this kit, it would be known as a "Brillo Pad"...
for getting rid of it- even blocking it via CSS leaves horrible gaps.
...the "stiff" reprisals against the Mossak Foneseca staff. They've made a lot of psychopaths very unhappy.
exactly what I was thinking- after checking ch and len were valid, it should just be a case of
I would guess it's because in America, card fraud is a liability of the customer to prove that fraud has taken place, whereas (in the rest of the world) it's up to the credit card company.
ditto- I thought he was going to finish it with "...and at the end of the day you know they are both going to get screwed- one figuratively and the other literally."
Mucho mas articules en espanol por favor.
same in Ireland- we pay for a TV license, the government props them up with taxpayers money, and they show adverts. And now they are talking about implementing a "Broadcast Tax" on top of that.
"Err, they do actually. I've come across a couple of news sites in the last few weeks that stop you reading the content if you don't disable the ad-blocker"
I've noticed this too- a quick edit of their CSS soon gets me the content though...
surely that's "no two laptops will occupy the same orbit while there are empty orbits available"
"You Brits should probably refrain from comment. You're hopelessly uninformed on this topic."
We have a thing called "free speech"- you might have heard of it.
Isn't Atlas the massive 100 ton Battlemech?
El Reg is now going to get sued because of that comment.
But Birmingham is Little India...
"Rich people buy more stuff.... ie pay more taxes"
No they don't- you might want to check out (rich person) Nick Hanauer's view on this- A person making 1000 times more than an average worker does not buy 1000 times more groceries.
maybe then all you need to do is tighten direct access when it comes loose.
until you get good at coding- then you can get away with writing it 1.5 times.
Can we get rid of the term "dropped" when meaning "released"
I'm going with two "engineers"
Exactly what I was thinking- the article did not appear to demonstrate that there was any "barrier to entry"
because money (and government pork at that).
"Mozilla looses Firefox 43? I wonder how they loost it..."
...are they saying that only men should be allowed to hack hair dryers?
