iPHONES and 'Pads BANNED in US for violating Samsung patent

Darryl

Re: bzzzzzzzzzt.

I'll bet every US carrier you can name is 'giving away' iPhone 4's with a 2 or 3 year contract. Killing that entry-level deal would still hurt Apple and the carriers.

Apple cored: Samsung sells 10 million Galaxy S4 in a month

Darryl

Re: not sure i see what Apple has to 'fear'

On the contrary, I'd imagine a lot of 4's are still being 'sold' - In the US and Canada (at least) they're 'free' on a 2 year contract, which I'm sure pushes more than a few out the door.

Actually, the scheme is a raging success, for exactly the reason you mentioned in your first paragraph. These companies aren't in business to make your life better, they're in business to squeeze every penny possible out of you for their shareholders.

A good way to do that is to sell you something multiple times because OMG Pirates!

Still don't see the appeal

You get a cheaply made, seriously low powered laptop for abut the same price as you can get last year's (or the year before's) Core i3 from the clearance bin. Plus, it comes with Windows, so you can decide which OS you want without any extra cost.

Can we please have an end to the drivel about "I don't like it so it's totally shit"? And how does the selection of apps define the OS as a 'nearly' OS? Does that make iOS and Linux 'nearly' OSs too?

So you can't post pics of your breakfast with the official Instagram app (yet). The app selection is growing steadily.

Darryl

Re: I just think it's sad that Nokia have removed colours as an option

Well, it IS thinner and lighter, so you could do the iPhone thing and get a plastic or rubber case in any colour you wanted... And I love that the AC after you is getting more downvotes for thinking that everyone's downvoting Nokia and WP8

Re: Use Case?

I agree 100%, and I also take offense to the "too impolite or lazy to bother coming to the door" remark. We answer the door when we're expecting someone. Life's too short to deal with door-to-door salesmen and telephone solicitors.

Re: forced obsolescence, Apple douchebaggery

And unlike other OSs, it's stupid easy to transfer your stuff from one Mac to the other. Just clone your drive to an external one or whatever, point a fresh copy of OS X at it, and after about half an hour you won't be able to tell the difference between your new Mac and the old one.

Pretty obvious you don't know much about other OSs then, because you can do that with pretty much any of them.
