Ryanair cancels aggregator-booked tickets in escalating scraping war

So they don't like competition...

As far as I can see it the only reason an airline would not want someone to use one of the price comparison websites is because they think they might loose customers to other airlines that have cheaper or more convenient flights.

Generally when I have found a flight I want on a comparison site I'd check and see if it was cheaper on the airline's site. Either way its a win for that airline.

> Black helicopters because they have more leg room than budget airlines.

Yeah... leave the OS alone

It's an interesting idea but you can't knock the OS too much. They do produce the best maps in the world! Try finding maps of similar quality and accuracy for any other country - you won't be able to.

You can't wiki-up that kind of quality as we all know.

"Good evening, London. Allow me first to apologize for this interruption. I do, like many of you, appreciate the comforts of every day routine- the security of the familiar, the tranquillity of repetition. I enjoy them as much as any bloke. But in the spirit of commemoration, thereby those important events of the past usually associated with someone's death or the end of some awful bloody struggle, a celebration of a nice holiday, I thought we could mark this November the 5th, a day that is sadly no longer remembered, by taking some time out of our daily lives to sit down and have a little chat. There are of course those who do not want us to speak. I suspect even now, orders are being shouted into telephones, and men with guns will soon be on their way. Why? Because while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth. And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there? Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? War, terror, disease. There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense. Fear got the best of you, and in your panic you turned to the now high chancellor, Adam Sutler. He promised you order, he promised you peace, and all he demanded in return was your silent, obedient consent."

BBC vs ISPs: Bandwidth row escalates as Tiscali wades in

4a$$Monkey
Alert

Both right and both wrong.

The BBC traditional delivery method as a radio transmission was paid for by them and so it is false to claim that they shouldn’t be paying for delivery. When you are watching BBC on Freeview they are paying for the transmission. But no other internet content provider would expect to subsidies the ISPs for delivering it’s content.

On the other hand ISP are supposed to deliver whatever content we request over their networks. It’s a bit ridicules to ask for a premium or subsidy just because someone came up with a popular product that uses a lot of bandwidth.

There are only two ways this is going to turn out;1) We say goodbye to unmetered internet access; or 2) The networks step up to deliver the bandwidth that is demanded.

re: Motorbikes

@ Simon: I totally agree.

@ FlatSpot: You are kind of missing the point – yes the MPG is about the same as a small car but you don’t spend hours sitting in traffic jams on a bike so you’re not using as much fuel. Plus riding a 600cc bike is even more fun than driving high performance / sports car. If you go for a small 125cc bike the fuel economy can be a fantastic 100mpg!

As for Sunday riders I can’t really excuse them (I live in Wales... you should see how many we get round here). But for those of us who use our bikes as our main form of transport it is a low cost and low emission alternative to a car.

re: so what was the point of the research?

Well I would have thought it would be quite an effective way of killing someone and getting away with it. Once you had built the kit you could leave it somewhere the target was going to go and activate it at your leisure. By the time plod has realised someone has reprogrammed the deceased pacemaker you could have recovered your device. £30K for the kit to get away with murder seems pretty cheap to me! If I had a pacemaker and had reason to think people might want me dead I’d be worried.

Variable speed limits:

On the M42 where there are cameras people generally stick to it, at least by the gantries with the cameras on.

On the M25 where are aren’t cameras people generally ignore the variable limit... of course it’s pretty rare you can speed on the M25 anyway :-)

Average speed cameras:

On the M60... sure people comply because they have to - it’s that or a ticket. It doesn’t mean they like it or that using them along with a pointless 50mph restriction when there aren’t road works is good idea.

Of course on my bike I’m immune to the forward facing average speed cameras anyway (no front number plate) LoL. Unfortunate I doubt they will let that loophole continue on a national road charging scheme:-(
