The first bit of production software I ever wrote was in Access / VBA. When I was discussing it with a few mates (all IT professionals), one scoffed and said it wasn't a real database (i.e. not SQL, which is what he worked with). I still have a soft spot for it, as it can be a surprisingly effective tool in the right circumstances.
