Yes and no.

Yes - Google did copy some Java copyrighted code. Mostly legally from the Apache licensed Harmony project. A wee little bit by mistake.

No - That isn't what this case is about. It's about the unlicensed Java API that Google replicated to be compatible with the Java language so that developers wouldn't have to learn a whole new language to start writing software for Android devices.
