You do know there are several types of copyright, don't you? There's the copyright of individual creation; then there's the copyright of lumping a pile of other peoples' stuff together. The second sort is much, much weaker. It's the sort of copyright the likes of Hal Leonard claim over their music score anthologies, most of which were written by somebody else.
Interface copyright, as something concerned with interfaces, which allow others to combine their work with yours, would appear to be of the second variety.
