The blast radius of that determination would never be limited just to Google Java implementation even if the "in this case" penalty would only apply to Java.
The term here is "it sets a precedent". It is this precedent that then makes any other defined API fall into copyright. It would turn Amazon's API offering into a nest of vipers and they would then, like youtube become liable for promoting copyright violation, and so on.
Don't underestimate the downstream damage, regardless of the specifics in this case.
