I can confirm that there are plenty of sites on the Internet that have their TLS settings set such that they can't do better then SHA-1. That is you won't be able to connect without allowing it.

I don't see your problem. If fewer and fewer people are able to connect with current browsers, eventually they'll either have no visitors, or they'll realise there's a problem and fix it.
