Agreed - the people who "designed" IPv6 were the same sort of ivory tower theorists that would have thought that oblong wheels were a good idea. If IPv6 had just been an addressing extension then it would have been fully adopted years ago - instead it was polluted with a huge load of extra crap that is of no use whatsoever to 99.99% of internet users. Even the address range in IPv6 is stupid - adding 4 extra bytes would have taken the number of potential addresses to over 18 million million million - over 1 billion addresses per human being on Earth, there was no reason to expand the address range to 128 bits. (2^128 possible addresses is more than enough to allow every atom in every human on earth to have its own IPv6 address!!!)
