that's not how I remember it, I saw systemd being targeted for VM-hosted server-farms. There is absolutely no benefit of systemd on laptops, but since I don't run servers in VMs I thought that there might be use-cases I'm not aware of. Now, if laptops are the real targets then that removes even that small reason for systemd.
Unfortunately Devuan Ascii comes with kernel 4.9 and my laptop needs at least 4.15. And I can't get hold of a Devuan Beowulf download ISO. Especially one as KDE LiveCD. I'm just trying an MX respin, let's see.
