Encryption has to come out of the factory enabled
Erm, doesn't that kinda defeat the purpose? Where this stuff is manufactured (deepest darkest China) the factory would be forced to keep a list of all encryption keys; to change them, you'd have to wipe and reinstall anyway.
That's of course assuming they'd even use a different key for each machine!
