As someone who left the UK and settled in the US, eventually buying a house, trust me, that is only the tip of the iceberg. Its a miracle there is anyone over 60 alive in the US given their electrical practices from back in the day.
- knob and tube wiring? Check
- aluminium wiring that has a habit of unilaterally dsconnecting from it's junction? Check
- wires that are joined by twisting together, squeezing on a wire nut and hope? Check
- feeds for houses where the mains comes in about 30 feet off the ground in a sort of lamppost affair and just casually drops into the mains panel? Check.
And that's before the plumbing...
