The thing here is, that an encrypted Enigma message will have a mostly flat distribution of all of the letters, and an incorrectly decrypted message will show the same mostly flat distribution. A correctly decrypted message, however, will show peaks and troughs representing the distribution of the various letters in the original plain text.
