Hmm, I have been saying something similar (for years) without the tech angle about clothing and other tat that has a "designer" name splashed all over it.
Yay! About time I saw someone else with this view of things! I only buy plain clothing - little or no logo and nothing else on it. I hate the concept of not only being a marketing billboard for their company, but actually me paying them for it.
Any car I buy, the dealer will be told anything with their branding on it (cutesy branded number plate surround, branded registration holder, stickers on windows etc) will be charged at $10 per instance per hour my vehicle is in public view. And as I always park on the road, that'll be $1,680/week/offence.
