HS2's main benefit for me is that it'll take traffic off the older line from Marlylebone to Birmingham. Might even be able to get a seat at peak times. Ha!
As a regular user of that line I've never had much of a problem getting a seat. And even if that has become a problem, it'd be easy enough to replace the horrible multiple units with more of the Mainline Silver trains, and put a couple of additional carriages in.
