No, it's nothing to do with this at all.

If it's a genuine Windows 7 or 8.1 key, whether retail or OEM, it'll upgrade and get a digital entitlement "a key".

If it's activated using a SLIC table injector (Windows L0d3r, etc) it'll upgrade as well.
