My fave 2001 FX shot...
...is the floating pen.
The effect was done with the then 'new' double sided sticky tape and a revolving sheet of clear plastic gel.
You can see the stewardess 'peel' it off.
Total cost maybe 6 shillings!
Today it would be done with CGI at a cost of $80,000 and three weeks work.
