Roundabouts in the US

Where I live they added the first one about 20 years ago and there are now probably a dozen in the metro area. They seem to like adding them near schools. The most recent is the largest one they've done, while the four roads are only single lane one is fairly high volume and the other will be growing fast since there will be a lot of development nearby since a new high school was just opened.

Not exactly like the huge ones in the UK, but I'd hate to think what would happen if we tried to put a roundabout in the US with busy multi lane roads feeding it. They are mostly unknown to too many people for that to end well!
