They've got form in inflicting these patches upon a bunch of volunteers, of which I happened to be a member of that group, without real testing. Three decades here now. You hear that they eat their own dog-food but that hasn't ever been true. They test on a few, select, configurations they use on campus rather than on a wider collection of systems that more accurately reflect "The Real World." That's left to the rest of us to sort out.
Hey, one thing that's nice about their new regime. Everyone else gets to join their eternal betas.
