Though perfectly valid, that's a very "me" point of view. I wholeheartedly agree that running arbitrary code downloaded into some sort of browser based execution engine is asking for trouble.
Other people have the problem that, by intent and design, they're letting other users choose what to run on their hardware. Services like AWS are exactly that. If one lets employees install software on their company laptop, it's the same problem. A computer that is locked down so that only code that the IT administrator knows about is running is very often a useless tool for the actual user.
