ST suggested, "It could conceivably be mitigated in the compiler..."

What if the bad guy uses the old (unmitigated) compiler, or even (gasp!) In-line Assembler ?

I'm not sure that the basic concept of securing the world's CPUs in "the" (?) complier makes much sense.
