I could not have said this better.

Already, breakages are common enough companions to updates that I get a feeling of dread every time that any software (OS or not) wants to do it -- which is why I no longer allow anything to automatically update anymore. Instead, I let them pile up until I know I have a free weekend to spend fixing everything after the update happens.
