Same old 3 tier with a different name
I expected a lot more from NetApp given how well established they are and how many smart people they have on staff. To simply repackage an existing 3 tier solution into a different shell isn't impressive at all. Their software integration better be the best in the world else this will fail miserably. But how can you really integrate software that well when you have to rely on VMware? Would be better off getting VSAN, which is actually fully integrated when you buy in VXRail form. Otherwise the established HCI players are the way to go, and now seems like a good time to start asking them about the economics as they are also offering pay as you go models. Looks like too little too late from NetApp.
