Mays choice of side was strategic. She chose the side she thought would win. Note how she was barely noticeable during the referendum campaign. Note also how she was stamped on not once but twice by the EU over the Snoopers Charter and especially note that she is on record as wanting out of the ECHR which by definition would mean leaving the EU.
