Whilst I agree, that's how it has been depicted more often than not, it's not a integral part of the characters, personally I like the slight equalish partnership as portrayed in elementary. Ontop of all that considering it is set in modern times, I have no issue with a woman being either or both characters, had it been set in Victorian England then Yes keep it as x2 men.
