For all America's arrogance they are a grown up democracy with a functioning legal system.
I recently did a marathon reading about people whose convictions were overturned in the States, usually after many years, often on Death Row, and sometimes posthumously, and ended feeling that the American judicial system is childlike. Like an example of a nation that got too much power before it had the maturity to properly wield it.
