There are lots of assumptions being made both in the media and round here.

If you want to form a more informed judgement on what may or may not have happened (still without actually having the relevant *facts*, which are still in short supply), you may want to go read about "data entry plugs" (aka rating plugs).

I have no idea whether Data Entry Plugs are used on the A400M, and given that my earlier reference to them on this very site is now the top hit on "data entry plug a400m", maybe they're not used. But they are widely used in the aircraft engine industry, and maybe there will be impact here.

Using the word "file" to describe the parameter data store may be a bit misleading in this context. It's more likely the same meaning as is used in the phrase "register file", not in the phrase "FAT32 file".
