The security implications of that sort of thing scares the s**t out of me. What else might it be trying to (mis)manage??
I'm old enough to have a very long grey beard. In fact I haven't. I'm relatively new to 'Nix, drawn, no driven, to it by the unreliability and obscurity of another well known system.
I'm not talking about open source code here - I've come to hate things that try to do everything and hide what they are doing and why. That's not simplification, it's obfustication. Which makes understanding what's going on and fixing it when it breaks more difficult.
