    I had hoped...

...they'd refrain from hoarding as much data as they can. Apparently not. I can't really blame them for wanting the ability to tap, but wanting to keep the data indefinitely isn't very nice.

No word on how the tapping orders are actually executed. This would be a wonderful opportunity to make the hardware require and verify a warrant digitally signed by a judge, but that is probably also too reasonable to expect.

Wonder if they'll outsource it to the UK.

    possible silly question

but what about the masses of encrypted data flying backwards and forwards between all the Indian software companies and their UK customers.

Surely attempting to snoop on all that will only scare away business.

    On the upside

it'll just take one data leak from (or huge tax jump for) this wiretapping system and people will be pulling out of India left, right and centre.

So our lot just have to hold off until India screws up and we might see jobs coming back over here! Woo and indeed Yaay!

    Due diligence

How will UK companies who outsource all their operations to India be able to tell their shareholders they have exercised due diligence with the company's information security? It only needs one person somewhere in the system to spot a chance to sell off all their data.

    Why bother?

"allow intelligence and law enforcement agencies to easily intercept calls, texts and internet sessions."...and collar anyone they suspect of wrong-doing, irrespective of stuff like evidence!

    FAIL

    it doesn't change a thing

indian intelligence is the biggest oxymoron in history. it don't mean squat anyway. those bastard terrorists will still get a chance to get through and it's the average indian joe or hari who's going to suffer. unless of course he's got enough dosh to pay the most corrupt set of sleaze bags to ever walk the planet.

slime balls so corrupt they'll gladly let you sleep with their mothers if your money is good enough.

    anonymous because.....

where the fuck is the black helicopter icon when you need one? oh well it's FAIL and double FAIL because we indians are just a pathetic bunch of losers with dicks so small, you'll need a microscope to see one even when we're excited.

oh and btw, i love vijay mallya. he's done more to make us happy than any other indian who ever walked God's green earth.

Will they use the English method?

"Of *course* we only record the telecomms data, not the actual message. Although to determin that the message is harmless we will have deep packet inspect *every* packets contents.

    But we won't record them.

Unless the law changes of course."*

Standard Home Office b&***cks press release repeated ad nausum.
