back to article Boffins test cancer-stinging 'nano-bee' swarms in mice

American medi-boffins say they have developed a way of using tiny nanotech devices, which they call "nanobees", to carry a potentially poisonous drug safely into the body for the purposes of killing cancerous tumours. The "bees" are so-called - as opposed to being named "nanowasps" or "nanocobras" or whatever - because the the …

    1 Billion nanoBees ==

    One Moderatrix!

And heretoafter, the amount of scorn poured on a commentard shall be measured in nanoBees. I doubt anyone could withstand even 100 nanobees without requiring extended counselling for ego-repair :)

    Gray goo?

Look, captain. The inhabitants of Earth committed suicide by tiny robots.

    That's swell

"The boffins were able to enhance this effect by adding a targeting agent attracted to areas where blood supply is increasing"

But perhaps best not used in combination with Viagra...

    What about the hunny, mummy?

Can they make ones that carry nectar and honey around in the air, thus solving the worldwide bee-crisis?

Of course there's no word from the scientists of zombie mice...

...there's no word from them AT ALL...

    No reports of zombie mice?!?!?

All lab rodents have been bred from albinos. What is the most remarkable feature of white/albino mice? Red eyes. What is the most unique feature of zombies? Red eyes.

So these scientists *can't know* that their lab rats aren't already zombies.

    CURE FOR CANCER FOUND

If you are allergic to bee stings - tough.

Make with the nanites already, then we can have long lives and overnight body reshaping and self-building spacecraft.

    Hurry!

    Concentrate

"....because in high enough concentration it can destroy any cell it comes into contact with, .."

This is true for salt, sugar, and just about any soluble substance you care to name (but maybe not water).

    Did I misunderstand something there?

    "advance published online"

    Or simply "published online"?

See also: "pre-orders" that are actually just "orders"?

    they aren't like tiny submarines

    Not really interesting then.

I mean, a bunch of spheres is hardly going to justify a remake of Fantastic Voyage starring Natalie Portman/Kiera Knightly in a CGI phallic symbol.

I read about this a while back...

At first they tried nanokillerrabbits to very disappointing results. Then the nanopoisondartfrog, a nanoferret or two, and some other anis nano until they came across the nanobee.

of course, not to be confused with pedobee.

"What is the most unique feature of zombies? Red eyes."

That's the most unique feature of a zombie? You must have some very odd looking friends.
