Their forums have been down for most of this morning, occasionally going back up for a few moments before falling over again. There was a post saying they're having database problems, so I wonder if they've been SQL nobbled themselves as a result of this?

As a regular visitor to both here and there, I would say that El Reg's 'Comment' area also features a similar degree of vacuous commentary, only with an occasional IT bent to it, so if I were you, I wouldn't start waving my woggle too enthusiastically. However, if this knocks a few of the funktards that inhabit DS, then so much the better I say. There's far too much hatred of others on there these days.
Paris, because whilst DS is a bit lightheaded and has its knockers, it does have some uses too, especially if you're after some evening entertainment.

If it were not for Digital Spy I would have had to pay someone to realign my sat dish for my new Humax Freesat PVR box. Instead I tracked down the the snippet of advice that gave me a picture.
You see, I was getting 90% signal strength, but 0% signal quality. Thanks to DS I learnt that this meant I was pointing at the wrong satellite, and that I needed to point towards another more easterly one on the horizon. Job done. ££££'s saved.

It used to be an invaluable resource for help with Sky+ in the early days.

There are many posters on the forums that I struggle to believe can function in the real world. There seems to be an unbelievable lack of social skills on there.
I banned myself from going on there months ago after the reality TV stuff got too much.
That's the only thing I care about. Is Firefox vunerable? Is Opera? Is the exploit delivered thru Flash ads??? What the hell. What a lack of specifics in this article. I need specifics!
Is the exploit a mix of flash ads and JS? Is it regular image ads (jpg, gif, png) , just their scripts that are malicious? Please answer this immediately. I'm tried of these "mysterious malware delivered thru ads" stories without specific information.

It got my Mac via Safari which has plug-ins disabled (=no Flash) and banner ads disabled (using userContent.css). Clearly that wasn't enough and I had to disable Javascript to solve the problem of being diverted to a gambling site.
