back to article For sale: Six European virtual strip machines

Anyone paranoid or pervy enough to have a full body scanner on their shopping list could do worse than have a look at the European Parliament's 'for sale' board. Strasbourg is offloading half a dozen full body scanners it bought a mere three years ago, when post-9/11 fears about terrorism were still running at feverish levels …

    A passage to India?

When I was in India last month, security at the entrances of hotels and public buildings had escalated to levels we normally associate with international airports. Furthermore, if the Indian media were anything to go by, the public mood seems to be in favour of more rather than less security to a degree many countries would find unacceptably draconian. There has to be a market there...

    Can I buy them...?

I'd love to install them outside the Members' Entrance of the House of Commons! Linked up to a webcam too!

(Of course scans of certain MPs would have to be classed as Extreme Pornography, because they'd be "grossly offensive or disgusting" and "likely to result in serious injury" as inadvertent watchers try to claw their own eyes out...)

The european parliament website has a "for sale" section? Link please?

Need to buy some red tape.

    Depends how much they cost

Gyms use 3d scanners for body shaping; not having to take most of your clothes of first might be a benefit.

Or how about mapping a 'virtual' outfit to a person; a walk in version might be more appealing than one requiring a changing room, etc.

    Do the scanners.........

show vast bags of cash stashed under MEPs clothing?

Might be why they were so reluctant to install them in Strasbourg.
