That's because the 79xx series phones have bugger all security to bypass!

fortuantley our higher ups ahave prevented us from getting any of these bugs by not funding the top-end equipment that has them .....

Still on dedicated phones and we booted cisco at the last refresh as we could get 10Gb backbone for less than the price of a 1Gb on cisco .....

Seriously, who buys Cisco telephony equipment?

I mean Cisco routers, that may just be a habit, but Cisco telephony equipment never neither "one of a few options" nor particularly good. I've seen Cisco equipment using g.729 internally giving your godawfull voice quality at premium costs.

CallManager ain't cheap. But when you're running thousands of phones, it's hard to ignore. Cisco's support is pretty good too.

Well but it's terribly buggy, and there are cheaper, more competently made packages like "Starface" around for which you can also get decent support.

    Found internally

These latest issues, like many of the others from Cisco over the past several months, were "found during internal security testing". That's a Good Thing. Seems like someone at Cisco is really pushing pen-testing and other SDLC behaviors among the development teams.

While it's easy to criticize Cisco for their recent spate of CVEs, they should get credit for being proactive and improving their software. Other organizations would do well to emulate this behavior.
