back to article Fujifilm, Xerox throw each other a US$6.1 billion lifeline

Fujifilm has announced a $US6.1 billion deal to take control of troubled Xerox. It's a complex deal: the Fuji Xerox joint venture (75 per cent owned by Fujifilm) will spend $US6.1 billion buying Fujifilm's stake in the J/V, and Fujifilm will use those billions to buy a 50.1 per cent stake in Xerox. This prompted me

To have a look and see what Fuji"film" actually do.

It would seem that (among other things) they still make film! Including black & white and slide film. Well there you go :)

    Lifeline

There is little point in throwing each other a lifeline if both are sinking

Oh I don't know, it's always more fun going down with company than on your own...

Does this mean Xerox will improve their tech support processes so I don't have to go backwards and forwards with them for a week to get an engineer out?

Wrong, with the demise of the usfeminazi currently at the helm, the answer is YES

"Last week, activist investors Carl Icahn and Darwin Deacon demanded changes at the top of Xerox and the dissolution of the 50-year-old Fuji Xerox joint venture as a response to an accounting scandal in 2017. This may not be quite the change they wanted!"

I can't tell you how disappointed I am for them. Because I'm not.

The venture needs a snappier name

"Fujifilm Xerox" sucks as a brand name.

    "Xefilm" sucks even worse.

    "Fujirox" is a bit better.

    "FuX" sounds best of all.

    YMMV.

On the subject of brand names, I am reminded of the hypothetical merger between Sharepoint and Twitter :-P

"Xerjifilm" Wouldn't want to use it in a sentence, though...

It already has one, Fuji has been running the real world (AKA outside the USA) for 50 years, the new name is, wait for it - Xerox.

And thus ends yet another era

Funny how many once great American companies have killed themselves over the decades, yet we are still forced to believe that American capitalism is the absolute bestist!

Pro tip: ditch your IBM stock before the middle of this century. They're next.
