      FYI ... The Avoton C2730 (nice slow-clocked 8 core Silvermont Atom) was the single most efficient CPU on the planet.

    Give it a break guys!

    It was the 2000 that had the clock problem, and that's part of the reason these are being released later than originally planned.

    There is nothing wrong with Atom CPUs - provided you target them at the right workload. Try and use it for heavy DB loads and you'll be unhappy. Use if for a low-power edge / NAS device and it should be a good solution.

      Yeap, I use them for low end firewalls and some nas4free units, they work happily with out giving you a massive power bill.

      They work just fine for PoS terminals as well, completely fanless.

          That's what server-grade parts cost - this isn't consumer stuff that will be unavailable in six months time.

          It also has features you don't get on low-end boards:

          1) EEC RAM

          2) BMC

          4) Quad NICs

    Tell me this is an elaborate joke

    One single USB3 port, and VGA-only Aspeed video. If you use all 8 SATA ports, you have no PCIe whatever - thus no way to hook up any more SATA ports. OTOH, 4x gigabit ethernet is great.
