Kaminario has left UK sales in the hands of an sales engineer and a chief technology officer following the redundancy of more than half of the local staff, a number of sources have told The Register. According to our insiders, two end user sales people and the channel boss Mark Walker were laid off at the end of last week - …

    I know this one.

They'll hire a specialist telemarketing company to contact businesses in their target sectors and split their time accordingly.

They're not the first tech company to be a small office of a larger parent

Anon because I've been in that position.

You're right, but they never really bounce back after closing up shop in a country. See Tintri in Australia for example. No UK buyer is going near Kaminario unless the price is drop-dead-cost but then that's not how you build up margin to build up employees to sell.

Let's be honest - the only reason France has stayed open is simply because of the tougher employment laws there with regards to getting rid of people. If they could get rid of them they would.

... and now that that startup excitement has worn off better try landing a job at those cushy established vendors.

And frankly - that pool table and xbox in the office has never been used anyway.

Just take the xbox in exchange for that IPO that wasn't going to happen.

Saw them jump to leaders Quadrant today from Gartner. Must be doing something right. Maybe the staff that got axed needed to be successful somewhere else...

They moved a teeny tiny bit over a line into a quadrant where there are six other, well established, larger vendors well ahead of them. This means they have many 'me too' items but are still lagging. They are just too late to an aggressive market with too little to offer.

If you are axing staff to be successful somewhere else that says two things:

1.) The staff were not successful

        2.) Cash is an issue

Also, there were only four people in the UK?! Their main UK office in the UK is a Regus building rent space (the hub).

France is generally smaller so let's say two people...... and there is no mention of other offices. So Kaminario has, best guess Kaminario is 4 people in EMEA. Down from 6 people.

If you are axing staff to be successful somewhere else that says two things:

You mis-understood. Successful somewhere else means another company; they were terminated.
