back to article Bloodbath at LeEco US as Chinese tech upstart implodes with layoffs

It has all gone pear-shaped for Chinese conglomerate LeEco after the firm told nearly 70 per cent of its US staff that their services will no longer be required. LeEco had around 500 employees in the US, largely based in Silicon Valley. They hired some big-name engineers from competitors, but on Tuesday management announced …

    Bloodbath?

Really? You could have chosen a different word on a day like today.

Unacceptable headline today. What were you thinking of?

    'Unacceptable headline'

Lets give the Reg benefit of the doubt... The article could have been prepared earlier. More importantly though, when you start to self-censor, you actually play into the hands of the b@stards behind this.

That's what they want... More negative change and FUD forced upon us is a clear win for them. Try to let to go, and if you can't, sorry to upset anyone as its not what I wanted...

Well, Mr or Mrs Anonymous Coward, the story is dated 24 hours after the nail bomb killed children in Manchester. 24 hours should be time enough to change the unfortunate text in the story headline.

The headline wasn't meant to be disrespectful, merely one which The Reg has always run.

As a Brit - albeit one living amongst the rebellious colonials for many years - the Manchester atrocity hit hard, but on a story completely unrelated to the event I went with that headline.

I've seen poorer taste in headlines (unfortunately)

Perhaps not the best choice of words in regards to Manchester, but bloodbath is a common term used to describe mass layoffs.

On a different note, the picture of the Sepulveda dam brought back a lot of memories, with some dating back almost 60 years. Do wonder if that site was chosen as a Buckaroo Bonzai reference.

"The breadth of our business model is capital intensive"

No, your "business model" was based on whishful thinking and massive self delusion.

Billionaire 1%'er believed his own hype..

.. and thought he could walk on water.

He got burned because engineering and building real technical products is hard - much harder than streaming other peoples video content.

    Called It...

They didn't even get as far as the LeCar did... which actually made it into production.
