Confused commuters disembarked at Westminster tube this morning to discover the station at the seat of power had been rebranded "Webminster" in a "hilarious" guerilla marketing campaign by Amazon Web Services. The one-day rebrand is part of AWS's re:Start training programme intended to educate folk on the latest software …

"If everyone donated just the price of that cup of coffee in your hands right now, yes, just £2, we could shine a beacon of knowledge on this historic city. Wikipedia Central, where there will be no ads, we'll just get by on the generosity of small donors. It's easy to ignore this message; most people do. But I hope you'll take one minute to think about how useful Wikipedia is in your life. Keep it Central. Thank you - Jimmy Wales"

£2 for a cup of coffee?

Remember when £2 could buy you a house outside of London??

According to the newly released AWS addendum of the Official Rules, that would be "Mornington Crescent Tools", Shirley?

    Notting Hill Gates...

    ... is very good.

On the AWS theme, what about AWSloo? Which would have the obvious corollary of a line named AWSloo & *hitty.

    Or Facebooknal.

Or IBM Street (at Old Street).

    Or Oracle & Castle.

Canon Street or Canon's Park would be a gift.

    Or Seven Ciscos?

Finished my sandwich now. Off to earn a crust.

    Small mercy

At least this was done by locals, otherwise it would've read "Webminister".

    UK Datacentres?

I've shifted alot of stuff into AWS over the past several years for several customers and the fact that they're hosting in Ireland or Frankfurt and not the UK is usually seen as a positive! Usually something about wanting hosting in a "stable, transparent and sensible regime" haw haw!
