back to article Kaleao's KMAX ARM-based server has legs. How fast can it run?

Kaleao is a startup developing ARM-based servers and hyper-converged appliances under a KMAX brand. Its marketing-speak says it has a “true convergence” approach, it involves “physicalization” and there is a “microvisor” – oh dear, what does this mean? The KMAX product comes in server and appliance forms. The servers use 64- …

    Cool design

Reminds me of the AtomSmasher PCI switch torus server designs which AMD gobbled and (unfortunately) let fester and putrefy ~ 7 years ago. They had similar virtualization for IO and network, without the compute part.

      Re: Cool design

Hmm, 8 ARM cores and 4GB of RAM. When is someone going to machine a chassis that you can fill with off-the-shelf Android phones, all plugged into a USB-C backplane? UPS included for free!

    Thank you

"The net net is that Kaleao offers deeper convergence, not true or even untrue convergence."

I think it's a superposition of an orthogonal set of convergences.

I think the author was drunk and making it all up.

Either that, or Donald Rumsfeld was involved.

If those numbers really stack up...

... I'm sure it will have legs. Looking forward to some reviews vs some x86 kit.

    Dear Reg,

    "Physicalization" is not a word.

    Thanks.

      "Physicalization" is not a word.

      Tell my 3d printer that.

    Doh!

I got the 'it's a boxy server thing' bit but true hyper micro-converged-visor physicalized nics?

    Just "Doh!"

      Thumb Up

      Re: Doh!

To differentiate them from all the imaginarized nics you might have in your shoes, or up your bottom, or wherever?

This sounds like a lot of cache...
