Has anyone seen the major clause that you have to have at least one US based developer?!?

We have tried to contact FB on this but to no avail...wonder if the reg can find anything out?!

    Overseas Development Teams

It is disappointing that FB has added a clause that insists on 1 US developer. I can understand why, it's US company backed by a US fund. FB is global though and they're missing out on potential great ideas and businesses with this clause. As a small UK development team, we'd very much like to apply. Their own forums are full of teams from the Indian sub-continent that would also like to take part.

Anyone know an easy way to hire a US developer? Ensuring that they're committed to the project and don't steal the idea?

    Pointless

Because Facebook doesn't already have enough pointless "applications" begging to install themselves to prove to the world how popular you are.

    And the other $8M?

That doesn't appear to add up:

    25 * $25,000 + 5 * $250,000 = $1,875,000 < $10,000,000

What's happening to the other $8M?

    "NOOOO!!!" & "Pointless" Indeed

How about dropping the $10m on developing the messaging side of things so as to draw folk away from email?

Text formatting would be a start.

Then work on allowing more than one attached link.

As for what to spend the remaining $9,999,900 on...

    ;-)

Chris Birch, I'm a US developer in the States; when would be a convenient time for you to discuss further?

You can always hire a US Ringer

If you want a US developer, draw up a contract fielding any US friend as a "developer", offer them 1-5% with a Non-compete and bam. You have a US developer who can't steal your idea (Or probably know what to do with it if they had it). Just because they are labelled as a "developer" Doesn't mean they actually have to develope anything. Offer a lazy american 1-5% to sit on his ass and then you develope your program. Facebook doesn't have to know you have a non-compete agreement inside your team, Hell, I would have one regardless.

Problem solved - as developers, I would expect more outside the box thinking.

Loopholes are the things that make everything else work.
